01About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and to be confirmed (“TeeTimes”, “we”). They apply when you use teetimes.co.za as a golfer (Part A) or on behalf of a golf club (Part B). Part C applies to everyone.

You accept these terms when you create an account, or when you use the site without one. If you do not agree, please do not use TeeTimes. Our privacy notice explains how we handle personal information and forms part of these terms.

Please read the clauses in bold carefully. They limit our responsibility, place risk on you or create obligations for you, and the Consumer Protection Act asks us to bring them to your attention.

02Your account

  • You must be 18 or older to open an account. A parent or guardian books for a junior golfer.
  • Give accurate details and keep them up to date. One account per person.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for bookings made through your account unless you tell us promptly that it has been used without your permission.
  • You can stop using TeeTimes at any time and ask us to close your account by emailing support@teetimes.co.za. Records we must keep by law are retained as the privacy notice explains.

03Part A · Golfers: our role and your booking

TeeTimes is a booking platform. When you book a tee time, your contract for the round is with the club, not with TeeTimes. The club provides the golf, sets the price and its rules, and is responsible for the course, its facilities and its staff.

Before you confirm, we show you the club's price for each player and the club's cancellation and no-show policy. By confirming you agree to that club's rates, rules and policy for that booking. Your booking is confirmed when we show you a confirmation and send it by email.

You may add guests to your booking. You confirm that they know you are giving us their details, and you are responsible for passing on the club's terms to them.

04Part A · Prices and payment

Prices are set by each club, shown in South African rand and include VAT where the club charges it. TeeTimes does not currently take card payments: you pay the club directly, usually at the pro shop or counter. Club staff record payments in TeeTimes so your booking shows as paid.

If a club made a pricing error, it may correct it before you play and you may then cancel without a charge.

05Part A · Cancellations, charges, strikes and suspensions

Each club sets its own policy. It is shown when you book and on your booking afterwards. A policy may:

  • allow free cancellation up to a set time before the tee time;
  • charge a fee for a late cancellation or a no-show, payable to the club;
  • record a strike for a late cancellation or no-show;
  • suspend online booking at that club for a period after a number of strikes.

Charges are owed to the club, not to TeeTimes, and the club may recover them from you as it would any other amount you owe it. A club may cancel a booking, for example for weather, course closure, maintenance or an event; it will tell you, and no charge or strike applies to you for a cancellation the club makes.

You can ask the club to review any charge, strike or suspension, and the club can waive or lift it. Nothing in a club's policy takes away your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, including the right to cancel an advance booking subject to a reasonable charge.

06Part B · Clubs: your obligations

Part B applies to a club that registers on TeeTimes and to everyone who acts for it. The person who registers the club confirms they are authorised to bind it.

  • Accurate information. Keep your rates, schedule, tee times, blocks and cancellation policies accurate and up to date, and honour bookings made through TeeTimes at the price and terms shown.
  • Your golfers' contract. You are the supplier of the round to the golfer and are responsible for your course, facilities, staff and your own consumer and tax obligations.
  • Member data. You are the responsible party for the member and booking information you add or import. You confirm you have a lawful basis under POPIA to give it to us and that you have told your members their information will be processed on TeeTimes.
  • Staff accounts. You decide who on your staff has access and with which permissions, you remove access when someone leaves, and you are responsible for what your staff do in TeeTimes.
  • Fair penalties. Charges, strikes and suspensions must follow the policy you showed the golfer, and you must consider requests to review them.

07Part B · Data processing terms

When TeeTimes processes personal information for your club, we act as your operator under section 21 of POPIA. We will:

  • process it only on your documented instructions and to provide the service;
  • keep it confidential and secure with the measures described in our privacy notice;
  • use the sub-operators named in the privacy notice, and tell you before we add or replace one;
  • notify you without undue delay if we have reasonable grounds to believe it has been accessed or acquired by an unauthorised person;
  • help you respond to requests from data subjects and the Information Regulator;
  • return or delete it when our agreement ends, unless a law requires us to keep it.

We may use de-identified, aggregated information that cannot identify any person or club to run and improve the platform.

08Part B · Review, suspension and closure of a club

We review each club before it opens for online booking. We may suspend a club's access, or close it, if it breaches these terms, if we reasonably suspect fraud or misuse, or if the law requires it. Unless the matter is urgent, we will tell the club why first and give it a reasonable chance to fix the problem.

While suspended, staff keep read-only access so the club can still see its bookings. If a club leaves, we will help it export its data within a reasonable time.

Fees, if any, for clubs are agreed separately in writing.

09Part C · Acceptable use

Everyone using TeeTimes agrees not to:

  • make bookings you do not intend to keep, or hold tee times to resell them;
  • give someone else's details without their knowledge, or pretend to be someone else;
  • try to reach data that is not yours, test or bypass our security, or overload the service;
  • scrape, copy or automate access to the site without our written permission;
  • upload anything unlawful, harmful or that infringes someone else's rights.

We may limit or suspend an account that breaks these rules, and will tell you why unless the law prevents us.

10Part C · Intellectual property

The TeeTimes name, logo, software and site content belong to us or our licensors. You may use them only to use TeeTimes as intended. Clubs keep ownership of their names, logos and data, and give us permission to display them on TeeTimes for as long as they use the platform.

11Part C · Availability and changes

We work to keep TeeTimes available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Planned maintenance, faults with our providers or events outside our control may interrupt it. If you cannot reach TeeTimes, contact the club directly to book or cancel.

We may change or improve features. We may update these terms; if a change materially affects you, we will tell you at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you keep using TeeTimes after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree, you may close your account.

12Part C · Our responsibility to you

We are responsible for providing the platform with reasonable care and skill. Because the round of golf is supplied by the club:

  • We are not responsible for the club's course, facilities, staff, prices, rules or decisions, or for injury, loss or damage that happens at a club, except where our own negligence caused it.
  • Golf carries a risk of injury from balls, clubs, carts and the course. Play according to the club's safety rules.
  • To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profits, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees, if any, you paid to TeeTimes in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for gross negligence, fraud or wilful misconduct, or any right you have that the Consumer Protection Act or another law does not allow us to exclude.

14Part C · Ending this agreement

You may stop using TeeTimes and ask us to close your account at any time. We may end this agreement or suspend an account for a material breach of these terms, or if we stop running TeeTimes, with reasonable notice where we can give it. Bookings already made remain between you and the club. Clauses that by their nature should continue, such as those about liability and disputes, continue after this agreement ends.

15Part C · Disputes and governing law

The law of the Republic of South Africa governs these terms. If you have a complaint, contact us first at support@teetimes.co.za and we will try to resolve it within 20 business days. For a dispute about a booking, charge or strike, contact the club first.

If we cannot resolve it, you may refer it to the National Consumer Commission, a consumer court or ombud where applicable, or the South African courts with jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act.
